Kumarakom school is in a low lying area, surrounded by paddy fields, that becomes inundated with water during the Kerala monsoons and after. This provides a problem for access to certain parts of the school for more than a few months together. The school has requested for the land accessing the boys toilet to be raised, so that the boys can safely walk to the toilets.
